China Expels Missionaries from North Korean Border Region

Since the early part of this year, the Chinese government has deported many South Korean pastors and missionaries. No reason has been given for this action, but the areas from which these pastors and missionaries have been deported all border North Korea. It is believed that North Korean officials think that they were helping North Korean defectors. “There are thought to be over 1,000 South Korean pastors and missionaries in China, most working in the northeast, and their departure has led to closed churches and abandoned communities.”
