This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease.’ (Psalm 91:2-3 NLT)

I hope and pray that you and your loved ones are keeping safe and well. Most of us have never experienced anything like the current COVID-19 (coronavirus) global health crisis - this is a time of enormous uncertainty.

Over the last week, like many organisations, we have moved our staff team to working from home. But our work continues! We’re exploring new ways to continue to stand with everyone who faces injustice because of their religion or belief, especially at this uncertain time.

Religious minorities are especially vulnerable in any crisis like this, as they are already marginalised; so I’d encourage you to continue supporting them in any way you can, while also taking care of yourselves. Over the coming weeks we’ll be sending you updates on how you can pray for communities around the world who have been particularly affected.

It’s natural to feel apprehension and perhaps fear at what the next few months may bring. Yet we know in whom we have believed (2 Timothy 1:12); and as a staff team we have been praying through Psalm 91, where the psalmist speaks of God’s promises to protect us from deadly disease.

Let us join together in prayer now more than ever, trusting in the name of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

In summary, please pray:

  • For religious minority communities around the world, that God will deliver them miraculously from the coronavirus outbreak.
  • For protection for all our faithful, courageous partners around the world, whose work already puts them at risk on a daily basis.
  • For a special measure of strength, protection and wisdom for all our staff in London, Edinburgh, Brussels, and Washington D.C. and Kaduna, Nigeria.
