PUNJAB, PAKISTAN (ANS) -- Three Christian women were beaten by armed Muslims while they were sleeping in their house.
According to a story published by the Pakistan Christian Post (PCP), after the beating the assailants paraded them naked around their village.
The PCP reported Shoukat Masih said the incident originated after his goats strayed into fields owned by the Muslims. He said he asked for his goats back, but the Muslims refused and slapped his face.
PCP reported Shoukat's brother Boota said his 73-year-old father was also hurt.
Shoukat Masih said after the incidents they contacted Rev. Saleem Gill of the Pattoki Church of Pakistan, and along with him went to law enforcement. However, they were not heard.
Shoukat Masih said that evening, police raided their house, along with the Muslim landlords, and threatened to make them involved with a criminal case.
The PCP said after that, Gill informed Advocate Sardar Mushtaq Gill, National Director of LEAD, (Legal Evangelical Advocate Development) about the situation and asked for the group's help.
The PCP said Gill met with the family to gather more information and then filed an FIR (First Information Report) against the alleged perpetrators.
The PCP said other Christians have also complained to LEAD about inhumane and degrading treatment by Muslim landlords. They said their poverty results in them being treated like animals.
