Six Christians in Pakistan Charged with Blasphemy Against Islam

Six Christians from Elahiabad were charged with blasphemy on Friday, February 23.  Munawar Shehzad, a local Muslim, accused the Christians of preventing him from painting a wall with the Islamic decree “Kalma Tayabba,” thereby insulting Islam.  Following the accusations, a majority of Christians from the neighborhood fled, fearing mob violence.  Pervaiz Hayat, a local human rights defender, stated that the accusations against the Christians are false.
