Weeks after the government nullified the legal amendment, the Islamabad High Court adopted strict requirements for the declaration of religious affiliation when applying for government jobs and filing identity documents.  The decision amended existing statutes to create a controversial focus on a "faith affidavit." Many have spoken out against this new rule, stating that it paves the way for religious persecution at the state level.
