(Chengdu, Sichuan Province—May 10, 2021) On May 8 at approximately 2 pm, police officers from Chengdu City Longquanyi District Damian Police Station seized Minister Wu Wuqing of Early Rain Covenant Church (ERCC). In the past, in addition to police regularly summoning Minister Wu to their station, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials directed providers to cut off the water, electricity, and gas to his house multiple times.
Three times, from May 5 – 7, unknown agents also deflated the tires on Minister Wu’s car; ultimately damaging them to the point they were not repairable and had to be replaced.
Yesterday, at 3 pm, as Minister Wu returned home from a funeral the church had held, Damian Police Station officers summoned him to their station on a charge of suspected “disturbing public order.” They released him about 9 pm.
This evening, Minister Wu’s wife with several Brothers and Sisters [Christians] waited for police to release Minister Wu from Damian Police Station. An officer closed the door, however, and would not allow these Brothers and Sisters to leave.
Brothers and Sisters, please intercede for Minister Wu, his wife, and other Brothers and Sisters waiting for his release.
