Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. (1 Peter 1:3)
It’s uplifting to remember that through Jesus’ amazing grace, we are able to come directly to God with our prayers and requests. As we pray this week, be encouraged by the living hope we have in Jesus.
An hour of prayer on UCB1
This week, we’re excited to be featured on Christian radio station UCB1 as part of their news and current affairs programme, ‘Talking Point’. The show includes an hour of prayer from 12pm-1pm, which encourages listeners to prayerfully reflect on the news or the work of different organisations.
From Monday 6 September, we’ll be sharing some information and prayer points about the situations in Cuba, Myanmar/Burma, China, Iran and Nigeria. We hope that this will be a little burst of inspiration to fuel your prayers for our work.
Tune in to pray with us on UCB1 from 6-10 September, 12-1pm.
Pray for Afghanistan
The distressing events unfolding in Afghanistan touch us all, and we know that many of you are already standing alongside the people in prayer.
Since the Taliban took control of the capital on 15 August, there have been disturbing and credible allegations of house-to-house searches, summary executions, forced marriages, enforced disappearances and the killings of members of ethnic minority communities.
As the crisis continues and the future remains uncertain for many vulnerable groups, please keep persevering in prayer, being fuelled by the encouragement of 1 Peter 1.
In summary, please pray:
- For strength, healing, and comfort for the thousands of refugees from Afghanistan, who have been uprooted from their homes and lost loved ones in such traumatic circumstances.
- For the protection of those who have not been able to leave Afghanistan, particularly for religious and ethnic minorities, women and girls, and all vulnerable groups.
- For God to work powerfully in the hearts of the Taliban so that they would choose mercy over fear and violence.
- That many people will hear about our work through UCB1 and be inspired to support us in prayer, campaigning and giving.
