Join in Prayer for Chinese Christians
|
||||
The Winter Olympic Games begin today in Beijing. The Communist government of China is presenting a warm and smiling face to the rest of the world, as evidenced by its motto for this year’s games — “Together for a Shared Future.” As followers of Christ, we have a shared future with our brothers and sisters in China, many of whom have seen their church buildings destroyed, are constantly watched by their government and know they could be arrested for gathering for worship. Join Christians around the world — brothers and sisters who share a future eternity with Christ — in using the Beijing Olympics as a daily reminder to pray for our Christian family members in China. China’s government is surely hoping for a propaganda victory in which the world will see China as protectors and promoters of the Games’ core values of unity, peace and progress. But for the Chinese Communist Party, those values have very different meanings. Unity and peace, they believe, will come when all people in China bow to Xi Jinping and the Party. Party leaders see our Christian brothers and sisters as a direct threat. Those who claim Jesus as Lord cannot possibly place the Party or Xi Jinping first in their lives. Click the link below for specific ways you can pray for Chinese Christians, a calendar reminder to pray each day during the Games and tools to help you invite other Christians to join this vital prayer effort.
