News & Updates

Minister Detained For Buying Christian Books
The wife of house church minister Chen Lijun shared information about her husband's case after his arrest for purchasing Christian books online. According to ChinaAid's media team, Li Xiaoyan revealed her husband has been detained on fraud charges since August 13th. She asks for prayer for Chen and their entire church as more than 100 congregants now face persecution.

Please keep minister Chen, his family, and entire church in your prayers, along with their persecutors.

USCIRF Responds To New Vatican Agreement
Commissioner Stephen Schneck of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom responded to the renewal of a controversial agreement between the Holy See and Chinese government regarding the appointment of bishops.

"I certainly understand as a Catholic that the Vatican is playing the long game here and not thinking about the immediate circumstances, but I think that these agreements have not produced any improvement in religious freedom for Catholics in China, and I think that the Holy See should really rethink its decision to dance with Xi on this whole business," Schneck explained.

Please keep all Chinese Catholics in your prayers as the CCP continues to crack down on religious institutions.

Church Staff Member Arrested By Police
ChinaAid's media team reported on the abrupt disappearance of Linfen Covenant House Church staff member Wang Qiang, who lost communication with his family and other church members. Congregants later learned he had been placed under residential surveillance by officials who accused him of "fraud." Wang's arrest is another instance of immense persecution against this congregation after police dismantled the church's "Family Camp" in August.

Please pray for Wang, his pregnant wife Wen Huijuan, the entire congregation, and Linfen officials who persecute these Christians.

Christians Taken To Police Station After Visiting Pastor
On October 29th, several Chengdu Early Rain Covenant Church members visited Preacher Dai Zhichao, who has been under house arrest for the past month. After facing harassment, police officers then took these four visiting Christians to the police station. Just a couple of days earlier, officials told Preacher Dai he would be under long-term home confinement.

Please pray for Preacher Dai, his family, all congregants of Chengdu ERCC, and the officials in Chengdu who persecute these believers.
