Nigeria (International Christian Concern) — Nigerian police and government officials continue to investigate the slaying of two Christian monarchs last week who were gunned down returning from a security meeting in Ekiti State, southwest Nigeria.

Assailants on a motorcycle shot and killed Oba David Ogunsakin, the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti; and Oba Olatunde Olusola, the Onimojo of Omojola-Ekiti. A third man, Oba Adebayo Fatoba, the Alara of Ara-Ekiti, survived the ambush.

Police arrested at least 13 suspects in their murders.

Biodun Oyebanji, governor of Ekiti State, expressed his condolences, adding that no stone would be left unturned to bring the assailants to justice. Oyebanji asked security agencies in the state to remain vigilant and resolute stamping out crime.

The Nigeria Police Force arrested 13 suspects on Thursday.

Force Spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, told the media, “We are working with them (suspects), and they are giving us reliable and useful information.”

State public relations officer, Abutu Sunday, said the search and arrest of the assailants involved multiple police agencies and vigilantes.

“The suspects are currently undergoing investigation and are giving credible information that could lead to the arrest of other fleeing suspects that perpetrated the dastard acts,” Sunday said.

HOW TO PRAY: Pray for peace and comfort for the families of the deceased. Pray for healing for the survivor of this attack. Pray for the attackers to come to know Christ.
