This was the 'evidence' Communist officials used to send activist Zhang Haitao to prison for 19 years!

Nine years ago today on June 27th, 2015, Zhang entered prison to start a brutal and unjust sentence for speaking up about the rights of repressed Ugyhurs in Xinjiang.

His bold voice and his exposure of horrific repression policies made Communist officials very angry.

Zhang's suffered immensely while behind bars. His wife Li Aijie shared how he was deprived of sleep for 20 days, handcuffed, and beaten while upside down in detention. Before a trial, Zhang was told he could plead 'guilty' and see his sentence cut in half.

“Are the words of the Communist Party believable?,” Zhang replied.

His comment led another lawyer to ask Zhang if he was a believer. And Zhang affirmed he was a Christian and believed in God!

Right now, Zhang is enduring his sentence in a prison in far western China. Won't you send him an encouraging note that reminds him (and his guards), that fellow Christians and others concerned about human rights remember the persecuted?

On this somber anniversary, as Zhang spends yet another year unjustly behind bars, please keep him and his family in your prayers. Please also pray for his persecutors, and if you feel led, partner with ChinaAid to directly support prisoners like Zhang & family however we can!
