Lead Story: New Law Jails Worship, Fines Believers—House Churches in the Crosshairs

(Beijing) In a chilling escalation against religious freedom, China's revised Public Security Administration Punishments Law, effective January 1, 2026, explicitly criminalizes "illegal religious activities" for the first time, targeting unregistered house churches and underground Catholic groups. Article 31 imposes 5-15 days’ detention and 1,000-2,000 yuan fines for organizing or promoting such activities, broadening penalties from prior versions and enabling state-defined "normal" worship only through political loyalty.

Local informant rewards, up to thousands of yuan, fuel crackdowns, analysts say, revealing the atheist regime's fear of uncontrolled faith as a threat to ideological dominance. Human rights advocates decry this as a blatant violation of believers' rights, legalizing coercion and revenue-driven suppression of Christianity's growth.

Story #2: How 11 Chinese Christians Turned Persecution into a 'Spiritual Testing Ground'

(Shanxi, China) Eleven members of Taiyuan Xuncheng Reformed Church walked free on Oct. 28 after 15 days of grueling administrative detention, their spirits unbroken by a brutal raid on their Oct. 12 Sunday worship. Among them: preacher An Yankui, who dubbed the ordeal a "spiritual testing ground," where sleep deprivation in "tiger chairs" and police interrogations became platforms for gospel witness.

Inside the cells, An shared Christ's call to "goodness and unity," transforming inmates' hostility into harmony—some even sought post-release contact. "God designed this trial," he reflected, echoing Scripture's promises. As a house church rejecting state control, Xuncheng faces relentless suppression, yet Elder Li Yingqiang of Early Rain Covenant affirms: "Suffering reveals divine grace." Amplify persecuted voices; share now. Story #3: Midnight Raid Shatters Mongolian Family: China's Hidden War on Christian Mothers

In Beihai, Guangxi, on October 10, 2025, police raided the home of Mongolian couple Hasi and Huhetuya, detaining her on charges of "illegally using an information network." Part of a nationwide crackdown on Zion Church, the operation involved seven plainclothes officers confiscating phones and a Bible, questioning the family separately amid their children's distress.

Huhetuya, held in Beihai's No. 1 Detention Center, faces frequent interrogations and deteriorating health, worrying deeply about her daughters. Since October 9, authorities have detained over 30 Zion members, including lead pastor Ezra Jin Mingri, using non-religious charges to enforce "Sinicization of religion." Families report trauma, lack of transparency, and restricted access, highlighting ongoing due process violations in China's religious suppression efforts.

Story #4: Ruthless Arrest: The Peril Facing China's Ethnic Minority Believers | Li Guiwen

(Yuanmou County, Yunnan, China) Li Guiwen, a Lisu ethnic Christian from Pingtian Town, faces prosecution for leading peaceful home worship gatherings deemed "illegal" by authorities. Detained on August 2, 2025, and formally arrested on September 8, his case reached the procuratorate on October 17 amid a broader assault on unregistered churches.

In this relocated village—evacuated in 2002 due to geological hazards—Lisu Christians, influenced by 19th-century Western missionaries, have long gathered privately, fostering sobriety and dignity without public disruption. Yet, escalating restrictions mirror detentions like Pastor Pu Jinshun's in September. Li's family urges global prayer for justice, as Beijing's grip tightens on ethnic faiths.

Story #5: 24-Hour Vigil: Thousands Unite Against China's Church Crackdown

In a powerful display of international solidarity, ChinaAid, led by founder Bob Fu, hosted a 24-hour global prayer livestream on November 11, 2025, for China's persecuted Zion Church. Over 65 special guests and organizations, including Family Research Council President Tony Perkins, USCIRF Chair Vicky Hartzler, and former Ambassador Sam Brownback, joined the event.

This followed the October 9 orchestrated crackdown, where nearly two dozen Zion Church pastors and workers from the 10,000-member independent evangelical network were arrested across nine provinces for resisting CCP surveillance. Thousands rallied in prayer, echoing biblical calls to stand firm, urging courage and freedom for the faithful amid escalating human rights violations. Watch Here

Urgent Prayer for China’s Persecuted Christians
  • Father, we pray for the miraculous overturning of the new harsh laws harassing house churches. We pray for the fear of God to strike the Public Security Administration in China. Lastly, we do pray for house churches to prepare and stand firm.
  • Father, we celebrate the 11 Christians who were recently released. We pray for the testimony and witness they were to the other inmates, staff, and guards. We pray for the seeds of faith that were planted; that they would grow and they would come to salvation in Christ.
  • We pray for Li Guiwen and Lisu ethnic Christians. We pray their faith would be strengthened. We pray their hope would be anchored in Your Word. We pray for the lawyers to advocate strategically for Li’s prompt release.
  • Lord, we plead for Hasi and Huhetuya and their children. Holy Spirit, we ask You to heal the trauma inflicted on the innocent children. We pray for Huhetuya’s health and her faith.
  • Father, we thank You for the wonderful spiritual family that united from across the globe to pray for the persecuted in China. We pray for protection around all those who participated. We pray for mercy and safety for anyone’s lives who may have been endangered by joining the livestream.
