On this day 77 years ago, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the world's first-ever document outlining the foundational rights of all human beings, including freedom of association, assembly, speech, religion or conscience, movement, property, and more. The Universal Declaration of Human rights marked an unprecedented consensus about what constitutes inalienable human rights, and it is unique in that makes no distinctions with regards to any individual's ethnic, national, racial, sex, religious identities - all humans are "born free and equal in dignity and rights".
Now, nearly eight decades later, the struggle for justice, freedom, and equality still rages on. All around the world people are still languishing in prison or dying because no one will utter a word in their defense. When evil tries to silence its victims, our voice will not let them be forgotten. Since Jubilee Campaign's inception in 1991, we have sought to raise the plight of people persecuted for their faith and/or gender across the globe, from the Christians in Pakistan and Nigeria, and the Uyghur Muslims and Tibetan Buddhists in China, to women in North Korea and Iran.
Until every individual across the globe can live their lives freely and without fear of transgressions, Jubilee Campaign and our partners in the human rights advocacy community will not relent. And as the ongoing battle evolves, so have we - with your generous financial support, we have humbly enjoyed the privilege of forging new partnerships with activists the world over, and delivering people of faith from the clutches of bad governance through legal support. We hope you will continue to come alongside us in this journey.
