Walking with the Persecuted Faithful: ChinaAid’s Latest Updates

Join us as we walk with the persecuted faithful. The Chinese Communist Party has initiated the forced destruction of the Yayang Christian Church in Wenzhou, and Chengdu Church leaders have mysteriously vanished in a coordinated crackdown. A Pastor’s family has been torn apart by China’s ruthless persecution, and massive raids have been carried out on 12 house churches.

ChinaAid stands with the persecuted, exposing injustices and safeguarding the vulnerable. Your partnership makes this vital work possible. Thank you for joining us in this urgent hour.

Lead Story: Hundreds of Armed Police and Bulldozers Poised to Demolish Defiant Church

In a violent escalation of religious persecution, hundreds of armed Chinese police have encircled Yayang Christian Church in Wenzhou, deploying cranes and bulldozers amid fears of forced cross removal or total demolition

This follows December's massive raids on 12 house churches, where over 1,000 officers detained hundreds, including leaders Lin Enzhao and Lin Enci, who now face blocked legal access and family devastation. Believers endure intimidation and isolation under the CCP's Sinicization policy, yet their unyielding faith inspires resilience. As roads remain locked and residents evicted, the international community must intervene to halt this violation of human rights, proving no force can extinguish belief.

Story #2: The Agonizing Exile of Pastor Sun Cong's Children
In October, Chinese authorities arrested Pastor Sun Cong, detaining him in Beihai Detention Center for his Christian leadership. His wife, Gu Xiaoyu, and three young children faced immediate backlash: evicted from their Beijing home under coerced pressure, denied new housing, and blocked from schooling. On November 28, they fled the city as wanderers, grappling with family separation and uncertainty.

This collective punishment exemplifies the CCP's escalating crackdown on religious communities, severing bonds and inflicting deep trauma. Yet, amid the anguish, Gu finds solace in faith, viewing their pilgrimage as a divine path. Such stories underscore the urgent need for global advocacy to protect religious freedom in China.

Story #3: China's Silent Sweep: Chengdu Church Leaders Vanish in Coordinated Crackdown

On January 6, 2026, Chinese authorities launched a coordinated crackdown on Chengdu's Early Rain Covenant Church, detaining elders, preachers, and deacons while searching homes across Chengdu and Deyang. Elder Li Yingqiang was arrested without formal notice, his wife and children unreachable; Preacher Dai Zhichao was held at a district center; families like Brother Ye Fenghua's vanished entirely.

The operation disrupted church activities, forcing Early Rain Academy to evacuate amid threats. This assault on an independent house church underscores escalating CCP restrictions on religious freedom. Yet, members draw strength from scripture, rejoicing in shared suffering with Christ, urging global vigilance against such oppression. Stand with China's persecuted Christians—share this story, pray for the detained, and advocate for religious freedom today. Learn More

Story #4: Kazakhstan's Unjust Trials: Silencing Defenders of Xinjiang's Persecuted Kazakhs (Sham Trials)

In Kazakhstan, lawyer Shynkuat Baizhanov exposes the unlawful prosecution of Nagyz Atajurt activists under Article 174 for allegedly inciting ethnic hatred. Charged after a protest criticizing China's Xinjiang policies, including genocide and family separations, the case lacks evidence—statements targeted authorities, not ethnic groups. Baizhanov highlights violations: double jeopardy from prior administrative penalties, post-initiation expert reports, and flawed analyses.

These advocates, amplifying stories of detained Muslim Kazakhs facing religious suppression in camps, endure detention amid CCP influence. Their resilience inspires, yet the trial underscores transnational oppression, demanding global scrutiny to protect human rights. Stand with persecuted Kazakhs—share this story, pray for the activists, and support persecuted families at ChinaAid.org.

We pray for those that are reported missing to be found safe and sound.
  • Lord, we pray you expose the unjust trials in Kazakhstan. We pray for the unlawfully prosecuted to stand firm. Protect these voices speaking out against China’s human rights atrocities and violations.

We pray that Yayang Church would become a global symbol, a line in the sand, that halts China’s religious freedom violations and turns the tide of persecution.
