“This pain is like childbirth, it comes with distress, but we pray for it to bring life and freedom soon. Please keep praying, people here need hope. They need to know that there is a Savior.”
These are the words of Sahar*, a Christian in southern Iran. She was able to talk to Open Doors partners outside of the country shortly before the internet was cut off throughout the nation.
Here’s what’s happening in Iran right now—and, guided by your Iranian brothers and sisters, how you can pray with them and for them:
Perhaps what stands out most from our Iranian family is how they balance fear and concern with a deep trust in God’s goodness. Ahmad*, a Christian from an Iranian port city reflects this hope. “He strengthens us,” Ahmad says. “In these days, Psalm 94 has been my comforting passage. It acknowledges despair and injustice, yet declares that God sees, judges and acts.”
Will you pray with your brother … and with all Christians in Iran? Pray Psalm 94:22 over them:
“The Lord has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.”
Since Brother Andrew started Open Doors in 1955, the ministry has mobilized prayer, support and advocacy for Christians living in places where faith in Jesus can be costly. Now working in more than 70 countries around the world, Open Doors is committed to standing with persecuted Christians through Bible distribution, training and socio-economic aid.
