A Faithful Shepherd (Hunan)
Pastor John Sanqiang Cao, a house church pastor in Changsha, has been hospitalized after suffering from severe pain in his lower back and legs for over a month. He has been unable to sleep at night or sit comfortably during the day, yet he continues to shepherd the church by visiting believers, teaching, baptizing others, and praying fervently for the saints. Local believers are lifting him up, asking the Lord to heal his body and comfort his heart amid restrictions that still keep him from reuniting with his family. Continue Reading…
Update: A Lawyer’s Endurance (Hunan)
A prominent human rights lawyer named Xie Yang was recently sentenced to five years in prison for comments he made on WeChat. After four years in detention, he has chosen not to appeal the verdict and hopes to be transferred to a formal prison soon. When his lawyer mentioned support from fellow attorneys, the 54-year-old broke down in tears. Despite years of pressure and surveillance, he continues to stand firm in his convictions. A Mother’s Quiet Strength
Samarova Uldana, a young expectant mother in Almaty, is thirty-eight weeks along and dealing with painful health issues that leave her unable to get up. She carries the added weight of her husband’s six-month detention for his advocacy highlighting the suffering of families in China’s Xinjiang camps. Other women in the group, some pregnant or nursing, face similar trials, including ankle monitors and loss of family support. Continue Reading...
A Lawyer’s Return (Beijing)
Human rights lawyer Yu Wensheng (余文生) has safely returned home to Beijing after completing his full 3-year sentence. His wife Xu Yan shared the joyful news with thanks for all the prayers and support that carried them through two imprisonments for his defense of religious freedom and civil rights. Even under pressure, he stood firm in his faith, and together with his wife, he was baptized as a believer in 2022. Continue Reading...
A Lecture of Hope
Last week at Baylor University Law School, Dr. Bob Fu spoke to the next generation of attorneys about religious freedom, the rule of law in China, and U.S. foreign policy. Students leaned in as they explored how faith, justice, and diplomacy intersect in one of the world’s most critical human rights arenas. It was a meaningful time of conversation and encouragement. Their growing commitment to defend the persecuted ignites hope.
Pray With Us:
- Father, we plead for Pastor John Cao’s health. We pray for a complete turnaround and speedy recovery. We pray for wisdom for the doctors who are caring for him. Please comfort his family.
- Lord, have mercy on Xie Yang. Grant him great endurance as he serves his five-year sentence. We plead for a miracle and for his sentence to be reduced or thrown out altogether.
- Jesus strengthen Samarova Uldana and her family. We pray for a compassionate community to surround and help her. We bless the baby she carries and ask for her husband to be released.
- Father, thank you for Yu Wensheng’s return home. We celebrate his steadfast resolve and his faithful witness to You. Bless him and his family.
- Lord, raise up strong faith-filled advocates for human rights from Baylor Law in Jesus’ Name.
