Namibia (MNN) — Mission Cry is sending its first shipment of free Bibles, Christian books, and seminary materials to Namibia.

Namibia is located in southern Africa, directly north of South Africa, and on the west coast of Africa. Though 90% of the people in the country are professing Christians, getting biblical training is still difficult.

As unemployment rates reach almost 40%, Jason Woolford with Mission Cry says resources can be scarce and limit some Christians’ access to Scripture.

Even among those who do find work, the average income is around $450 a month, making it difficult for some to provide for their families.

For some Christians who want to take the next step in their faith or receive further training to guide others in the Lord, paying for seminary programs isn’t in the budget.

“That’s where we’re making a difference,” Woolford says.

Woolford says, in some parts of the world, pastors can struggle to get access to Scripture.

“It’s one thing to profess and confess Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, and it’s another to understand what He says about your life, how to be a mother, a father, a husband, a wife, understanding authority, understanding money, how much you have, what you don’t, but how to honor God with that,” Woolford says.

Mission Cry is sending both the means and the materials for seminary students.

This shipment, currently en route and expected to arrive in Namibia in November, will be split into three pods.

Two of these pods will expand theological and seminary libraries, where students, pastors, and future ministry leaders can check books out and use them for free.

“Think of the multiplication of that of one book training up a pastor, and (another) pastor, and a student and students for years,” Woolford says. “This is miraculous.”

The third pod will bless a ministry that supports the marriages and families of ministry leaders.

“This is the first (shipment) to this new partner of ours,” Woolford says. “First of many shipments to go, and the shipments following this will also go for evangelism.”

Mission Cry has sent $500 million worth of free Bibles and Christian books to 181 nations, and Woolford says people regularly reach out to the ministry with needs. In this case, a contact who regularly travels to Namibia alerted Mission Cry to the seminary’s need.

Woolford urges people to put themselves in the shoes of those who desperately want to pursue opportunities like seminary. For these students, hearing, “You don’t have to buy your books,” is powerful.

“We’re filling pulpits, classrooms, future generations with the Word of God: the only thing that doesn’t return void. And while they’re a 90% Christian nation, they need the Word of God,” Woolford says.

Praise God for his provision, and pray that he will lead people to support the ministry financially. Without donations, Mission Cry is unable to cover the $11,000 cost of shipping $500,000 worth of free materials.

As these materials are shared and access to Scripture expands, please pray that the Word of God will transform the lives of pastors and their congregations.
