Christ teaches in Matthew 16:27, and every New Testament writer is clear that Christ will judge us by our deeds.

For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done. (Matthew 16:27)

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. (2 Corinthians 5:10)

Many pastors dismiss this by saying that God judges only the beliefs in our hearts, not our deeds.

"I witnessed 20 Christians being taken away . . ."

We recently watched the "Tortured for Christ" movie with our North Korean Underground University students and the movie made a deep impact on their lives. The movie prompted them to open up about their own lives while living in North Korea. One student told us,

In the place where I lived, I witnessed about twenty Christians being taken by the State Security Department.

And yet another student shared,

When I was caught in China and repatriated to North Korea, receiving a two-year sentence in the notorious (location withheld) prison cell, I once saw an old person in his seventies who came in after receiving a fifteen-year sentence because a Bible book was discovered. At that time I did not even know what a Bible book was.

If I confess that "Jesus is Lord", am I saved?

Jesus says that simply calling him “Lord” does not save us.
Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 7:21)
The Scriptures show three factors that must agree for us to be saved.

The first is the public outward confession that Jesus is Lord (or Christ or Messiah).

The second is a correct understanding of what it means for Jesus to be the Lord.

Urgent Prayer Requests

We give the Lord thanks for the digital Bibles that were distributed last month in the Chinese countryside to believers who didn’t have a Bible before.  

Continue to pray for Missionary Park Tae-Yeon who is imprisoned in Russia. Her trial started in July and is continuing into September. Pray that her trial would be finished quickly and that she would be released from prison.

Pray for Esther. She is a North Korean woman living in China. Pray that she and the women she ministers to will continue to grow in Christ through his word.
