Iran (MNN) – You can shutter churches. You can restrict Bibles. Yet, Iranians are still encountering Jesus — even through miraculous means.

Peter Smith, a Gospel worker serving the Persian-speaking world, recently heard about one Iranian man who watched a Christian satellite program with a special salvation episode.
“When he went to bed that night, he had a dream of Christ talking to him – your typical dream of a man dressed in white saying he promises peace – but he needed to do something,” says Smith.
“So the next morning, he called the call center that we had listed on the screen that evening, and after much discussion with our communication center, he was saying, ‘I’m ready to receive Christ.’”
But dreams and visions aren’t the only surprising ways God is reaching the Persian people.
Smith also tells of a Christian taxi driver in Iran who found a box left behind by a passenger. The driver brought it to his home, where 10 believers would gather later that evening for Bible study.
“When it came time for prayer, he said, ‘You know, for months we’ve been praying that each of us could have our own Bible.’ So he went into the kitchen, opened up the box, and here were 10 Farsi New Testaments!”
For more than 30 years, Smith says he’s continued hearing accounts of Persians encountering Jesus and Scripture in miraculous ways.
“God [is] bigger than my little box that I put Him in, and He can do whatever He wants to reach this country.”

Pray that Persian people searching for truth would find salvation in Jesus Christ. Ask God to continue revealing Himself through dreams and visions, drawing people to seek Him. And pray for greater access to Scripture — that Farsi Bibles would reach seekers and new believers hungry to know God through His Word.
Smith also encourages Christians outside Iran to notice the Persian people God may have already placed around them.
“Persian people love to be prayed for, and so use any opportunity that you meet a Persian person to pray with them, even inside a grocery store.”
