Mexico (MNN) – A shipment of Gospel materials sat for months. Then, when it finally moved, it arrived exactly when it was needed in God’s perfect timing.

Changes to Mexico’s import policies last year delayed a shipment of World Missionary Press (WMP) Scripture booklets headed for a church in Michoacán State.

The Michoacán pastor kept working through the new paperwork, but approval never came. Eventually, someone even asked whether the materials should go to someone else.

Helen Williams with WMP says, “We just didn’t feel that’s what the Lord wanted us to do. We felt like we needed to wait on the Lord because it was in a critical area, and this pastor was earnestly requesting it and would use it well.”

Unrest had created deep needs in the Michoacán community.

“The church there was in a situation where they needed to be able to give hope, needed to give answers, and meet the needs of the people.”

Then came an unexpected connection.

Someone remembered a Texas pastor near the border whom WMP had met at a conference. He was already a regular WMP distributor — and he believed he could get the shipment into Mexico.

WMP prayed about it, took the risk, and trusted the Lord.

Soon, Williams began receiving photos and videos. The truck was moving. Then, in mid-August this year, it pulled into the Michoacán church, where believers were waiting to unload the boxes one by one.

“The next photos I got were of the boxes being lined up in a warehouse. Then they had tables spread out, and they put the boxes down [and] opened them up!” Williams says.

The timing was remarkable. The Michoacán church had just begun a 10-day Gospel outreach when the shipment arrived.

“Next thing we see, we got all these people, all these distributors, all the believers coming to pick up material,” Williams says. “Within days, they’re on the streets with…material, passing it out. I mean, it was just God’s time!”

Pray for lasting spiritual fruit from every WMP Scripture booklet placed in someone’s hands in Mexico.

Williams asks Christians to pray that “when they get the literature and they use it, that God would honor their labor and His Word. [Pray] there would be fruit, and that would encourage them, and the Church would grow and be discipled – because that’s the whole point of all of this.”
