Haiti (MNN) — Haiti’s electoral governing body said they are preparing a revised electoral calendar, which likely means another delay in Haiti’s democratic process.
In July, officials scheduled the country’s first presidential elections in 10 years for December 13. But security concerns due to gang violence plus low voter registration have made that date unlikely.
“Security and safety are the biggest issue, you know, especially for those in Port-au-Prince and the surrounding areas,” Greg Yoder with Christian World Outreach.
In an October 2026 report, experts appointed by the United Nations Secretary General said that some gang alliances in Haiti have fractured. These have exposed civilians to renewed violence. For CWO’s local staff, any delay in Haiti’s electoral process “kind of dashes those hopes that things are going to change,” says Yoder.
But the bleak outlook on Haiti’s political scene is a chance to point to Christ. Every CWO project serves this purpose.

“God doesn’t put us out there alone, but He wants us to encourage each other, and that’s what we try to do as well, not just introduce people to Christ, but then disciple them, help them to grow,” Yoder says.

“We don’t just feed them a meal, but while they’re sitting waiting, they learn Bible verses, they hear Bible stories, the gospel [is] shared with them. That reaches them, but it also reaches their parents,” says Yoder. “I’ve seen kids that have been in a feeding program grow up and start participating in church and being leaders in the churches.”
Pray for God’s intervention in Haiti on every level — politically, physically, spiritually.
“Pray for our people, our staff there for those that are serving in that way. Pray for the kids in the feeding program. Pray for us to make wise decisions in how we proceed, and that God will provide as well,” says Yoder.

Consider partnering with CWO’s work in Haiti.
“For $30 a month, you can feed a child for the year,” says Yoder. “We’re also looking already to provide the kids a Christmas meal, and along with that, a small gift. [People] could give to that as well.”
