Ghana (MNN) — There is good news from a rural missions team in Ghana, West Africa! Eight young men who share the gospel with villagers in northern Ghana are fully funded for their mission.

What is that mission? OneWay Africa Director Ray Mensah says that each young man travels through many dangers to bring the Jesus Film to remote villages.

“There are many people who have still not heard the name of Jesus,” Mensah says.

This strategy at OneWay Africa for rural missions began in December 2016 and has touched the lives of hundreds of thousands of people in Ghana. Between January and the middle of 2026, these eight missionaries reached more than 60,000 people with the story of Jesus. More than 10,000 said they accepted Christ, says Mensah.

“We see this gospel being accelerated with such a sense of urgency. We say now is the time,” he says.

These missionaries carrying the Jesus Film also deliver audio Bibles and seek to form discipleship groups that will help new Christians deepen in their faith.

Would you pray for protection for these missionaries? “Protection, spiritual warfare, and continuous provision for the supporters who are supporting [these eight missionaries], that God will continue to use them,” says Mensah.

Pray for favor as the young men ask animistic or Islamic village leaders for permission to share the Jesus Film.

“There’s a lot of spiritual warfare, and there’s opposition as they go to villages which have other religions,” says Mensah. “It takes the favor of God for the chief to agree. Sometimes they go and they (chiefs) say, ‘No, no, no.’ Sometimes the fourth time they will say yes, or the fifth time. They (the missionaries) are very persistent.”

Pray that God brings many more people in Ghana to faith in Jesus! This is a prayer God loves to answer, so let’s pray toward that end. Pray especially for spiritual freedom for followers of other religions that are resistant to the gospel. This takes time.

“They might not be saved immediately, but the seed has been sown,” says Mensah.
