India (MNN) – In some Indian states, anti-conversion laws can bring persecution, prison or fines for those who share the Gospel. Yet believers continue sharing the Good News.
Greg Musselman from The Voice of the Martyrs Canada says the danger does not deter Gospel workers: “They are so convicted in their hearts that they are called to spread the Gospel there and disciple people, [despite the] great risk to themselves and their families.”
Ministry teams walk alongside them, providing practical training and spiritual support.
“With the teaching we give [to local leaders] and the encouragement from Scripture, it empowers them to continue doing what God is calling them to do,” he adds.

One story tells of a new Christian who completed discipleship and began sharing his faith.
“He started slow. He began to share the Gospel, people started to respond, and he had a small church going,” says Musselman.
But the attention brought opposition.
“One of the leaders in the community came to this young pastor with a knife and said, ‘If you don’t stop talking about Jesus, I’m going to cut you up like a chicken,’” adds Musselman.
The threat shook the young pastor, and he reached out to other leaders for counsel.
“And the overseer asked him, ‘Did God call you there?’ And he said, ‘Absolutely, yes.’”
After this reminder, the young pastor was encouraged to continue.
“The last I heard was that this young man was still there preaching the Gospel, and God has protected him,” says Musselman.
Persecution forces many to reevaluate the cost. When they or their families are threatened, they must consider the risks — though many have already counted the cost.
“And they want to stay. They want to continue to advance God’s kingdom,” says Musselman.
Pray for the endurance of evangelists in India. Pray also for believers challenging anti-conversion laws in the courts and for the defense of constitutional religious freedom in India.
