Psalm 81:13-14
“If my people would only listen to me, if Israel would only follow my ways, how quickly I would subdue their enemies and turn my hand against their foes!”
This was both a warning and encouragement to the children of Israel, as they were GOD’s people; and it would have been to their advantage if they had listened to Him, and they would have pleased GOD. To listen to Him is not only to hearken to what He says and commands, but to what He also approves of. It is the good and acceptable will of GOD that men should listen to His commands and demands spoken through the prophets and to the revelation of His grace in the Gospel; and indeed IT IS the voice of CHRIST JESUS—GOD’s very presence before the children of Israel in the wilderness, and now speaks to us through His Son! The LORD wants His children to walk in His ways. He gave us His Word to give direction and guidance as it denotes progress, prosperity and good success. To listen to and heed His voice (Word) are both pleasant and profitable to to the one who believes and trust in Him through CHRIST JESUS, His Son.
Prayer:
LORD GOD, thank You for keeping us safe and protected from everything that would hinder Your will and Your work in our life. May our hearts be tuned in to Your Word for daily guidance and direction. May the HOLY SPIRIT enlighten us to all You’ve given us in CHRIST, our Savior and LORD… Amen!
