Ephesians 1:18-19
18-“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in His holy people, 19-and His incomparably great power for us who believe.”
We all need to keep on renewing our minds and to keep on growing in the knowledge of CHRIST JESUS, so that we can enjoy Him more and what it means to be a child of GOD!
We need to know what our privileges are, for us to enjoy them. —“So that you will know what is the hope of His calling.” -- You and I need hope. Life on this earth is quite challenging and disorienting for all of us, so we need a different focus than the ever–changing conditions of our present time. —But what hope? Paul points to “the hope to which He has called you.” —What kind of hope is that?
Is it hope for better earthly things or is it hope for things that will last beyond our limited time on earth? —It means our expectation, faith’s anticipation, looking forward to something we know will come to pass.
And what do we know will come? -Every Christian needs to come to grips with the conviction that GOD is putting everything under the headship of the Lord JESUS CHRIST, and that we ourselves have a share in this great plan of GOD. And even if our plans fail us, GOD’s plans do not. And you and I have a share in His plans! —“So that you will know…what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.” —You and I need to know that we are worth a great deal to JESUS because we are His inheritance. Do you know how much you are worth to JESUS? Priceless!Each of us are valuable to the Kingdom of GOD. —“So that you will know…what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power” —When so many Christian eyes are distracted by earthly factors, the eyes of our heart need to be opened to know what is GOD’s incomparably great power. What power?
It is the power that raised JESUS from the dead that made Him supreme over heavenly powers that gave Him dominion in this age and the next and that made Him the head of the church!
Do you know the power that JESUS has, especially to us who believe? Pray the He will open our eyes and hearts to help us know and understand His plans.
Prayer:
LORD GOD, I pray that the eyes of our heart may be enlightened in order that we may know the hope to which You have called us, the riches of Your glorious inheritance in Your holy people, and Your incomparably great power for us who believe. We pray this in the mighty Name of JESUS CHRIST. Amen.
