2 Corinthians 1:3-4
3 "Blessed be the GOD and FATHER of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, the FATHER of mercies and GOD of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by GOD."
GOD's goodness reflects His character. The Bible describes Him as loving, gracious, just and merciful. These qualities show through His actions and promises. As we navigate through the intricacies of life, GOD is always there to help and comfort us through our pains and suffering.
As believers, we're involved in an important endeavor--capturing hearts for the LORD. If we're to make an impact, we need to present a consistent witness before others. Having a strong conviction about GOD and His Word is the foundation of a godly influence; we must believe the Bible is true and practical in our daily living.
Let's look at the life of Paul the Apostle. He was an enemy to the early followers of JESUS. But after his encounter with CHRIST, Saul of Tarsus was completely transformed by the power and presence of JESUS CHRIST! He then spearheaded a lifelong campaign to advance the Gospel, and in the process experienced much suffering: mockery, ridicule, false accusations, persecution and imprisonment. But Paul took his faith seriously and put it into action because he knew the FATHER wanted him to obey, no matter the cost.
If we are to have a good and godly influence, we must be committed to our convictions. A believer's life is often the only example of scriptural principles other people will see. So we, like Paul must make up our mind to follow GOD regardless of the circumstances. And like the people in Paul's sphere of influence, those you and I touch will see the work done for the LORD and glorify Him.
Prayer:
Heavenly FATHER, grant us a spirit of excellence. Teach us to give our best in all we do, inspired by the examples of people who have honored You through their dedication and passion. May our efforts bring glory and honor to You. In JESUS Mighty Name, Amen.
