EPHESIANS 4:2-3
2 “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the SPIRIT through the bond of peace.”
Ephesians 4:2-3 calls us to a way of life that is marked by humility and gentleness, patience and love. This is not just a mere suggestion, but a command for those who follow CHRIST JESUS. It means putting aside pride and selfishness, choosing to be understanding and compassionate towards others, and actively working to maintain unity within the church. Christians need to first of all apply and practice this within their own household, if we want to see this manifested among the brethren. This kind of unity is not a superficial agreement, but a deep, spiritual bond forged by the HOLY SPIRIT. It requires having a submissive and willing spirit, and a conscious effort with intentionality that honors the LORD with our everyday interactions with those around us, beginning with our own families, and extending to our fellow believers in CHRIST. The church then becomes a reflection of CHRIST JESUS’ love and a powerful witness to the world for the glory of GOD
Prayer:
Heavenly FATHER, thank You for the gift of Your Son, JESUS , and the example of love and unity He showed us. We confess that we often fall short of Your call to humility, gentleness, patience, and love. Forgive us for the times we have been prideful, impatient, or unloving towards others. Help us to cultivate these virtues in our lives, through the power of your HOLY SPIRIT. May we be found diligent in maintaining the unity of the SPIRIT in the bond of peace, reflecting Your love and grace to those around us. We ask this in the Holy Name of JESUS, our Lord. Amen.
