1 Chronicles 29:15
“We are [only] visitors and strangers in the land, as all our ancestors were before us. Our days on earth are like a passing shadow, gone so soon without a trace.”
This devotional can focus on the truth that life on this side of eternity is temporary, and our true home is spiritual, encouraging a focus on what is eternal.
Like the people in the verse, we are all just passing through on this earth. Our experiences fall short of our expectations for GOD to meet all our needs the way we think He should, and like a lover who has been wronged, we tend to guard our hearts against future heartaches and disappointments by lowering our expectations and trust. But make no mistake about it, our Heavenly FATHER sees it all. GOD understands. He does not leave nor forsake us. He cares like no one else! This life is not our final destination, but a temporary journey. We are all sojourners on our way to our eternal home. Instead of fixating on fleeting earthly anxieties, or worries, we can find true peace and purpose by focusing on our spiritual destiny, at home with GOD and His saints in glory!
PRAYER:
My Heavenly FATHER, I am just passing through this life. Remind me daily that I am a sojourner, a visitor in Your land. Help me to use my time wisely and steward my life for Your glory and to keep my eyes fixed on the eternal home You have prepared for me, in the promising Name of JESUS CHRIST my soon coming King, Amen.
