2 Corinthians 7:1
“Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for GOD."

Paul begins this verse by reminding believers of GOD’s wonderful promises to them. These aren't empty words; they are a firm foundation for a transformed life. Because of these promises, the call is not passive. We are to actively and intentionally "cleanse ourselves," a cooperative effort with GOD where we turn away from anything that contaminates us, both physically and spiritually. The ultimate goal is to be "perfecting holiness," which means a continuous process of growing more and more like CHRIST JESUS. This is not about a one-time fix, but a life-long pursuit driven by a deep "fear of GOD"—not a fear of punishment, but a holy awe and reverence for Him that makes us avoid and hate sin.

Prayer
Glorious Heavenly FATHER, thank You for the incredible promises You have given us in Your Word. We ask for Your help to cleanse our hearts and lives from every defilement of body and spirit. Open our eyes to see where we have fallen short and give us the grace and strength to turn away from all that defiles us. Help us to pursue complete holiness, not by our own strength, but by the help and power of your HOLY SPIRIT working in us, all out of a deep and reverent fear of You. In JESUS’ most gracious Name, Amen.
