Psalm 107:19-20
“Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress. 20-He sent out His word and healed them; He rescued them from the grave.”
The Word of GOD is believed to have healing power. Consider that just as medicine works when it's inside the body, the Word of GOD is powerful when it dwells in your heart and mind. The phrase "He sent out His Word and healed them" means that GOD’s divine communication, through His spoken or written Word, has the power to bring about healing and deliver people from destruction. It conveys that GOD’s Word is a dynamic force that can provide both physical and spiritual restoration, as seen in the Bible where JESUS healed the sick with a word and where the scriptures are seen as life and healing to all flesh. The "word" is not just an instruction but an active, authoritative force that accomplishes GOD’s will, similar to how GOD created the world by speaking it into existence. The healing mentioned is not limited to spiritual or emotional well-being, but also includes physical restoration. GOD’s Word also includes "delivered them from their destructions," indicating a broader sense of salvation and rescue from peril and "the Pit" (symbolizing death or Sheol). In Christian theology, this is often seen as fulfilled through JESUS CHRIST, who is identified as the "Word made flesh," and who healed people with His words. His Name is JEHOVAH RAPHA, the GOD who heals.
For believers, receiving this healing involves trusting in GOD’s promises as revealed in scripture and having faith in His Word.
PRAYER:
Dear Heavenly FATHER, I come before You with a heart full of faith in Your power to heal. I believe Your Word brings healing to my body, mind, and spirit. I ask You to touch me with Your healing hand and restore me completely. I lay hold of my healing, for it has been paid for by the shedding of the Blood of JESUS, and declared in Your Word. I trust in Your very great and precious promises and receive the strength and peace You provide through Your Son, JESUS CHRIST. Amen.
