Psalm 34:18
"The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed."
Pain can feel isolating. It clouds our thinking, drains our energy, and often convinces us that no one else could possibly understand. I’ve learned, though, that GOD’s comfort in pain is real, even when we don’t feel it right away. I remember a particularly hard period in my life where the pain overshadowed everything. It was the kind of sorrow that tempted me to withdraw, not just from people, but even from GOD. I told myself, they won’t understand. No one really understands. But one day, I came across a testimony of someone facing unimaginable circumstances, and yet they still clung to GOD. In that moment, the LORD reminded me of my own experiences of His comfort, goodness, grace, and His silent presence. I realized I was never alone. I realized I had never been. He is always there, our faithful ABBA FATHER.
2 Corinthians 1:3–4 (KJV)
“Blessed be GOD, even the FATHER of our Lord JESUS CHRIST, the FATHER of mercies, and the GOD of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of GOD.”
Pain has a way of making us feel like we’re the only ones going through it. But one thing I’ve learned is this: pain is the great equalizer. No matter our age, background, or status, we all encounter it. The beautiful thing is that GOD does not promise a pain-free life, but He does promise to be faithful through it. Paul calls Him “the GOD of all comfort.” That means all, not just comfort for small pains or light burdens, but even for the deep grief, the heartbreak, and the silent suffering no one else sees. -What I once saw as abandonment, I now see differently. GOD does not abandon us, nor does He walk away. He’s always been there, waiting for me to reach out to Him. Sometimes His comfort shows up in unexpected ways, a word from someone, a moment of peace in the chaos, a song, or even a testimony of someone who has experienced pain and suffering. And once we’ve been comforted by GOD in our pain, we’re given the opportunity to share that same comfort with someone else. That’s part of His faithfulness, too, using our trials to comfort and encourage others. If you’re hurting today, know this: you are not alone, not in your pain, not in your questions, not in your waiting. GOD is not intimidated by our sorrow. He is always present, and He is faithful. We don’t have to feel strong to come to Him. Come weary, come wounded, come with whatever you’ve got. Ask Him to be your comfort and keep your heart open to the ways He might show up. One day the LORD will use our pain to walk alongside someone in need of His comfort and encouragement.
PRAYER:
Dear Heavenly FATHER, thank You for being close when life feels too heavy to carry. In our moments of pain, help us turn to You instead of running away. Wrap us in Your comfort and remind us that we are not alone. Heal what hurts, restore what’s broken, and use our story to help someone else find hope in You. I pray this In JESUS’’ holy Name, Amen.
