Romans 6:17-18"But thanks be to GOD that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance. 18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness."
These verses reminds us of a powerful transformation. We were once controlled by sin; by habits, desires, and choices that led us away from GOD. Sin was our master. But through CHRIST everything changed. Paul thanks GOD because this change is not just external behavior modification. It is obedience from the heart. True freedom begins inside. When we receive the gospel and surrender to it, our hearts change, and our desires begin to align with GOD’s will. Serving righteousness leads to life, peace & joy.
In daily life, this means, we don't have to give in to old habits, negative attitudes, or sinful patterns anymore. Through CHRIST , we have the power to choose differently. When temptations comes, whether it's anger, dishonestly, gossip, impatience, or any other struggles, we can remember that is not our master anymore. We now belong to GOD.
Obeying "from the heart" means our faith is not just about rules; it's about a changed heart that wants to please GOD Each day, we can choose honesty over deception, choose kindness over harshness, choose self-control over impulse & choose forgiveness over bitterness.
True freedom is not doing whatever we want. It's having the power to do what is right. And every small daily choice toward righteousness reflects the new life we have in CHRIST.
Prayer:
Dear FATHER GOD, thank You for changing my heart and teaching me to obey You from within. Help me to remember that I no longer belong to my old ways, but to You. Strengthen me each day to choose righteousness over sin. Let my thoughts, words, & actions reflect the new life You have given me in CHRIST JESUS. May I live in the freedom & joy that come from serving You in JESUS’ Mighty and powerful Name, Amen and Amen🙏🏼❤️
