As we have discussed many times, and most of you know, Nigeria is in the middle of a Christian genocide. While COVID-19 runs rampant throughout the globe, taking the focus away from nearly everything else, innocent people in Nigeria are being brutally killed every day due to terrorism. We thank the Lord that COVID-19 has, for the most part, remained under some sort of control in Nigeria, but are growing increasingly concerned due to the acceleration of attacks by Boko Haram and the Fulani Militants. Since the beginning of March, the Fulani Militants have killed 366 people in Kaduna, Plateau and Benue States. Over 1,000 have been killed so far this year. The 2020 numbers are way up. A U.K. NGO reported a total of 1,000 deaths in 2019. This, particularly in comparison to the 21 lives lost due to COVID-19, is astonishing and unacceptable.
This week, Stephen Enada from the International Committee on Nigeria and a lead coalition partner with Save the Persecuted Christians, will be engaging with senior members of the Trump Administration to discuss the atrocities in Nigeria and, again, emphasize the need of a Presidential U.S. Special Envoy to combat this massacre. As Stephen mentioned at the Silent Slaughter press conference, “The situation in Nigeria is critical … Nigeria is imploding fast. We need to take action now before the situation gets worse. … We are asking the Trump administration for the appointment of a presidential envoy to Nigeria and the Lake Chad region.”
Tomorrow at 2:00pm Eastern Time we will be joining together to pray for the meeting between key Trump officials and Stephen Enada. It is pivotal for us to come into agreement over this assembly and pray for success, peace and movement because, as we know, “if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 18:19).
