Please join the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) for a virtual event assessing religious freedom conditions in Afghanistan.

This virtual event will explore religious freedom conditions in Afghanistan, focusing on the plight of religious minorities in Afghanistan that are nearing extinction. With the deadline for U.S. withdrawal of troops in Afghanistan looming, conflict and civil unrest have gravely impacted these communities. Over 40 years of instability has caused the Sikh and Hindu religious communities to become nearly extinct with only 200 remaining in Afghanistan.

The discussion will feature USCIRF’s Chair Nadine Maenza and Commissioner Fred Davie, as well as leading experts on South Asia, Michael Kugelman and Dr. Jagbir Jhutti-Johal. The event will be moderated by Dwight Bashir, USCIRF’s Director of Outreach and Policy followed by questions and answers from attendees.
