May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13)

Our hearts are heavy with the weight of recent news, especially when we remember the ongoing crises, conflicts and human rights violations happening in so many countries across the world. How do we have hope at a time like this?

Yet Romans 15:13 tells us that hope, joy and peace are possible, even now. Not through our own efforts, but by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Let’s continue to draw on His power as we lift up the nation of Myanmar/Burma.

Myanmar/Burma Day of Prayer

One year on since the military seized power in a coup, this is a critical time for the future of Myanmar.

Many innocent civilians have been injured, killed or lost loved ones. Many have lost everything they owned, and at least 330,600 people have been forced to flee their homes – although this is likely to be a serious underestimate.

Please join us online on Monday 14 March for an interactive time of prayer hosted by Benedict Rogers, CSW’s Senior Analyst for East Asia. We’ll hear from friends and partners inside Myanmar, as well as from around the world.

Book your free place to pray with us on Monday 14 March, 7-8pm GMT.

The situation is desperate, yet there are still reasons to have hope.

Last year, the UK and US imposed sanctions against a military-owned company, while 119 countries supported a UN resolution calling for the flow of arms to the military to be cut – this was one of the key things we campaigned for!

Thank you for playing your part in praying, campaigning and giving. We hope and pray for many more breakthroughs to come.

In summary, please pray:

  • That thousands will join us to pray for Myanmar/Burma on 14 March, and that many prayers for peace will be answered.
  • Protection and provision for the hundreds of thousands of citizens who have been forced to flee their homes since 1 February 2021.
  • That violence and suffering would give way to peace, security and the freedom that every human deserves.
