Lawyer Chang Weiping Sentenced
Sadly, Lawyer Chang Weiping was sentenced to three and a half years in prison, with an expected release date of July 2024 based on time served. Lawyer Chang has been in custody since his arrest in April 2021 for "subversion of state power." His lawyer Yang Zhanqing explained the charge is "a retaliation against him by the local government, which turned what was a normal action of practicing law and claiming rights into a sensitive political incident, causing great harm to lawyer Chang and his family."

Lawyers Stopped From Meeting Christians
Earlier this month, lawyers representing three arrested house church Christians in Guangzhou were stopped several times by guards at the detention center. Thankfully, the two lawyers were eventually able to meet with their clients after a third attempt to do so. Here's some of the roadblocks these lawyers endured to meet with the jailed Christians.

Rights Activist Ji Xiaolong Tried
ChinaAid reported on the June 21st trial of human rights activist Ji Xiaolong, who opposed the CCP's extreme "zero-COVID" measures in Shanghai. There has not been any news about a verdict, but reports are long-term abuse and detention caused Ji's hair to turn gray and for his figure to become hunched over.
