Across Nigeria, young Christian girls are being abducted, forced into marriage, and pressured to convert to Islam. This petition calls on First Lady Oluremi Tinubu to stand up for these vulnerable girls and take action to protect their dignity, safety, and the right to live their faith freely. At its core, it’s the right to just be a child.
Why We’re Petitioning
Too many girls have been silenced. Their stories demand attention:
Sadiya Amos: Kidnapped at 15 and married to her abductor.
Dorcas Adekanola: A 20-year-old university student, forcibly converted in 2023.
Cecilia Matthews: A 15-year-old abducted and converted in Yobe State in 2024.
An unnamed 16-year-old in Adamawa, secretly coerced into conversion in 2025.
These cases are not isolated. They are part of a systemic failure to protect the most vulnerable. Forced marriages and conversions violate international human rights and deeply wound entire communities.
A Message to the First Lady
As a mother, Christian, and national leader, Mrs. Tinubu has the platform and the power to speak out against this injustice. This petition urges her to:
Raise awareness through advocacy and media
Support legislative action to enforce protections for minors
Create a safe space for survivors
Partner with faith and civil society groups to amplify solutions
Add Your Name to the Petition
This is your chance to stand up for young girls in Nigeria. Forcing a young girl into marriage and conversion undermines her fundamental right to education, self-determination, and personal dignity. It stifles her potential and strips her of the opportunity to live a life of freedom, peace, and purpose, as God intended.
Please pray for young girls in Nigeria and around the world who face gross injustice through forced marriages and conversions, and pray that Mrs. Tinubu’s heart is open to receiving this petition and takes action.
With gratitude,
Jeff King, President International Christian Concern
