Thank you for standing with 21Wilberforce in 2025 to defend freedom of religion or belief and to bring hope to those suffering for their faith. Together, we bring light into the darkness—equipping leaders, strengthening churches, and advancing religious freedom in some of the world’s most challenging places.
Equipping Leaders in Nigeria
In September, 21Wilberforce led two major workshops with the Nigerian Baptist Convention and partner NGOs to develop advocacy and security strategies to strengthen and protect Christians in the Middle Belt and Northern Nigeria. More than 60 national and regional leaders were trained and connected through our growing Nigeria Freedom Network—laying the groundwork for a new center for research, advocacy, and engagement.
Strengthening Southeast Asian Networks
We collaborated with Baptist Churches in Southeast Asia to co-design an advocacy and peacemaking toolkit. Building on this, we are preparing 2026 workshops for youth and women leaders to strengthen community resilience and respond to discrimination with wisdom and courage.
Expanding Impact in Burma (Myanmar)
Our team visited the Mae La Refugee Camp and coordinated emergency food aid with BWAid to help sustain camp operations amid critical funding cuts. We also joined the Burma Religious Freedom Consortium, a new coalition amplifying the voices of displaced and persecuted faith communities before global institutions.
Building Global University Partnerships
Through our three-week Human Rights Workshop collaboration with the Dallas Baptist University Everett Global Religious Freedom Center, Bowen University (Nigeria), and North East Christian University (India), more than 25 students were trained in advocacy, human rights, and campaign strategy.
To date, four universities in three countries have engaged with 21Wilberforce on religious freedom and peacemaking initiatives as they seek to include these elements in their leadership and theology programs—including leading Christian universities in Burma, India, and Nigeria. And we have received requests from two other universities located in Indonesia and the Middle East.
Training and Advocacy Reach
In 2025, more than 97 church and civil society leaders and over 150 young leaders were strategically equipped and connected through our 21Wilberforce network—from Nigeria and India to the U.S. and Southeast Asia.
We led or joined seven advocacy campaigns on behalf of persecuted communities in Eritrea, Burma, the DRC, Rwanda, and beyond. We also participated in or hosted more than 20 international events, amplifying the call for freedom before church, government, and NGO leaders worldwide.
Honoring Frank Wolf Champion
This year 21Wilberforce honored Churches for Middle East Peace with the Frank Wolf International Religious Freedom Award for their courageous witness and global advocacy.
Launching Resources
We launched new online resources on our website to equip individuals and churches to stand with the persecuted. Free materials are available for personal or group use in six categories: Stories, Reports, Preach, Teach, Pray, and Advocate.
In partnership with Texas Baptists, we developed a statewide Week of Prayer initiative with a bulletin insert, videos, and social media prayer points. These tools mobilized congregations to intercede for persecuted Christians and deepen awareness of the crisis in Nigeria.
In 2026, 21Wilberforce plans to expand its advocacy and training centers in Nigeria and Southeast Asia, launch a university-based course on religious freedom advocacy, and continue building global networks that defend faith and freedom.
