After the earthquake, the church in Venezuela is trying to be salt and light even as Christians are impacted.
Last Wednesday, Venezuela was impacted by devastating earthquakes.
Thousands are dead, missing or injured. Infrastructure is destroyed, humanitarian aid is difficult to deliver.
And the church is in the middle of it.
Before the earthquake, the local church faced restrictions, pressure from the government and gangs, and discrimination.
Now with their homes destroyed, they are still trying to be salt and light in their communities.
A local Open Doors partner tells us that, despite the incredible pressure and trauma, the local church is standing strong: “Even so, they remain steadfast, accompanying people and bringing calm and hope in the midst of fear and instability.”
Since Brother Andrew started Open Doors in 1955, the ministry has mobilized prayer, support and advocacy for Christians living in places where faith in Jesus can be costly. Now working in more than 70 countries around the world, Open Doors is committed to standing with persecuted Christians through Bible distribution, training and socio-economic aid.
