Throughout history, navigators used the sun and stars to make their way across thousands of miles. With time they began to use all kinds of other navigational tools. In our journey through life, we face hardships and must face harsh conditions as we brave the storms of life. I want to encourage you to have a north star.
Boko Haram has persecuted Christians in Nigeria and a man who truly inspired me with this idea. Pastor O managed to escape but went back to rescue a sister in their village. Unfortunately, he was captured and went with a group of Christians who knew what their fate would be. Still, Pastor O prayed and sung worship songs before the persecutors asked him one last time if he really wanted to choose Jesus. Pastor O looked up and his north star and said “Tell my family, I died well.”
I’ll ask you today, what are you living for? What is your north star? Many people follow relationships, wealth, experience but they will only lead you astray from your home port. 1 Corinthians 2:9 says “No eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”.
Above all find your north star and follow it so that in the end, like Pastor O, you can say “I died well”.
