Years ago, I met with church leaders in China who shared their incredible perspective on persecution. While they admitted that persecution was not a gift of their choosing, it was indeed a gift.

They explained that, without it, the Church would figuratively be “a mile wide and an inch deep.” They even went so far as to express their concerns that the next generation of church leaders in China hasn’t experienced the same level of persecution as those before them.

While we don’t wish the pain of persecution on anyone, the refining power that it has on the Church is undeniable. Thank you for standing with our brothers and sisters in China, and around the world, as they walk through seasons of suffering.
