(ChinaAid—July 06, 2021) During the past two decades in China, although typically not famous nor wealthy, most human rights lawyers have represented everyday as well as noted citizens and netizens in aspects of human rights and public interest. The cases of clients they represent include, however, are not limited to freedom of belief, freedom of speech, political dissent, minority rights, and redress of wrongful convictions. These lawyers frequently represent opponents of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authoritarian regime or those whose rights the CCP trampled and include:
- civil society activists,
- human rights defenders,
- political dissidents,
- religious believers,
- NGO practitioners,
- journalists,
- private entrepreneurs,
- writers,
- victims of miscarriage of justice, and
- at times, even CCP officials imprisoned in the reportedly, anti-corruption campaign.
Human rights lawyers represent a small group among China’s half-million lawyers, nevertheless, they serve as beacons to help light the road to rule of law and freedom for Chinese citizens.

Open your mouth for the speechless,
In the cause of all who are appointed to die.
Open your mouth, judge righteously,
And plead the cause of the poor and needy. ~ Proverbs 31:8-9 (NKJV)
