IDP children in Myanmar's Kayah state

Myanmar (International Christian Concern) – The number of internally displaced people (IDPs) in Myanmar has grown by more than 680,000 between January and April 2023. These findings were reported by the independent research group ISP-Myanmar.

This brings the total number of people who have been uprooted since the military deposed the democratically elected government in a February 2021 coup to more than 2.6 million people.

Many aid organizations are working in Myanmar to assist those who have lost their homes or been forced to flee because of infighting. The ruling military junta, however, frequently obstructs aid distribution to those belonging to minority groups including Christians.

In July 2022, ICC reported on how civilians in Myanmar’s majority-Christian state of Kayah are being cut off from humanitarian relief and food aid from NGOs. These issues continue to persist.

The Progressive Karenni People Force (PKPF) announced on May 1 that 134 refugees from Kayah state had died in the conflict because of insufficient food and medicine.

Please pray for those suffering from the violence in Myanmar.

HOW TO PRAY: Pray for provision for the countless displaced families. Pray for protection for minority Christians throughout Myanmar. Pray for the conflict in this region to end peacefully.
