ROMANS 5:19 “Because one person (Adam) disobeyed GOD, many became sinners. But because one other person (JESUS) obeyed GOD, many will be made righteous.”
JESUS took our sin, our shame, our broken fellowship and through His crucifixion, gave us His righteousness, His holiness and His perfect nature in the exchange. Our righteousness is not based on anything we can do and have ever done, it is based solely on what JESUS did. Paul tells us, “For GOD made CHRIST, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with GOD through CHRIST.” (2 Corinthians 5:21).
It simply means that when GOD looks at us, He sees us through JESUS CHRIST and His finished work on the cross. We are completely accepted by GOD and are clothed with JESUS’ righteousness the moment we confess, renounce and repent of our sins and believe and acknowledge CHRIST by faith in what He accomplished on the cross—His shed blood paid for the penalty of our sins. And He clothes us with His garment of righteousness! Praise GOD!
To live righteously is to conduct one's life in an upright manner and with moral standards that reflect our relationship with the LORD JESUS. To be righteous means to obey GOD’s commandments and live in a way that is honorable to Him.
PSALM 106:3 says,
“How blessed are those who keep justice, who practice righteousness at all times!”
As JESUS’ followers we must never allow our sinful nature to hinder us from living an upright life. We must daily choose to honor the LORD by our humble obedience to His commands and a willingness to submit to the leadership of the HOLY SPIRIT. That my friend is what righteous living is all about.
Prayer:
ABBA GOD, thank You for making us righteous through the sacrifice and death of Your Son, JESUS on the cross. Through faith in CHRIST, we the unrighteous are made righteous in Your sight. May we always be found righteous in every area of our life as we daily honor You with a righteous lifestyle through JESUS CHRIST our Savior and Lord. In JESUS’ righteous Name we pray. Amen.
Praying For You,
Pastor Wally & Sister Mattie
