PROVERBS 3:21-26
“My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight, preserve sound judgment and discretion;
they will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck.
Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble. When you lie down, you will not be afraid;
when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked,
for the LORD will be at your side and will keep your foot from being snared.”
Sound judgment and discretion (discernment) are two spiritual garments that we don’t think about much, but without them, we can easily be led astray by the enemy. The more sensitive you are to the HOLY SPIRIT, the stronger your powers of discernment of spirits, and the wiser you become in making sound judgment. The ability to know who you can trust and who you cannot leads to making sound choices in life. In His address concerning the signs of the last days in Matthew 24:4, JESUS warns His disciples to “Watch out that no one deceives you.” In CHRIST, GOD has given the HOLY SPIRIT to all believers, and He equips us with the ability to make sound judgment and discernment so as we navigate the natural world, we can avoid the pitfalls that those without the SPIRIT of GOD find themselves easy prey to the entrapments of our enemies.
So, if you want to avoid this world’s everyday toils and snares, always remember to put on the spiritual garments of discernment and sound judgment. They are given for us to avoid being led astray in these days of widespread deception. GOD’s Word is reminding us to be sensitive to the HOLY SPIRIT in us.
Prayer:
ABBA FATHER, thank you for the spiritual garments of sound judgment and discernment. Help us remember to wear them in faith and use them to help us safely navigate this dark and evil world, avoiding every trap of the enemy along the way so that we can enjoy your comfort and peace In JESUS’ powerful Name. Amen.
