Psalm 1:2-3,6
“But whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on His law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season… For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction. “

Righteous or unrighteous? These aren’t topics people like to talk about much these days. Especially in our current world condition and how the church has been polarized by politics, social issues, and current world problems.  Yet, as we dig into the Psalms, GOD has something to say about all these things and how His people are supposed to respond to them. When we consider the problems of the world around us, we need to consider whether we are living righteously or unrighteously. -Focus for a moment. I am talking about the way we see ourselves. Not the way we see our neighbor. I am convinced this Psalm reminds us how we need to live our lives. For this reason, we must consider what this means for us:  For The Righteous…There’s Joy in delighting in the Law of the LORD (the Word of GOD), meditating on it day and night. His Word can help us weather any storm. The righteous will thrive and survive even in the most challenging times the world has to offer. The LORD knows and He watches over the path of the righteous.

For The Unrighteous or the Wicked…They join the mockers and stand around in their sin. When things get hard, the unrighteous disperse from the truth and points of view they held so dear to themselves collapse.  Ultimately, this kind of lifestyle leads to the destruction of self and society.

-In view of this, how should we respond to GOD’s Word today?  If you would ask me, I would consider asking GOD to show me the unrighteousness in my life…What made me agree with these unrighteous attitudes and behaviors? Then, based on what GOD’s SPIRIT shows me, I will confess and repent of these things to the LORD, and lay it all out on the table before GOD. His Word says that if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9).

Proverbs 21:21
“Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.
