The officials were there to remind him of three things: to put in a request with them if any assistance was required in terms of the coronavirus, to not carry out any activities in the name of Early Rain Covenant Church, and to not leave the house tomorrow. The man had previously communicated online with other church members about bringing meat to their pastor’s parents. The officials warned, “I advise you not to do so. Leave them alone for a while and do not try to expose the old scars.” The pastor, Wang Yi, is currently in prison on a trumped up “inciting subversion of state power” charge. When the Christian asked them to focus their efforts on the coronavirus epidemic instead of his family, the officials downplayed the outbreak. They said, “Isn't it that a plague has killed 5,000 or 6,000 people in the United States recently? It's a common thing, which every country has.” ChinaAid does not know which illness the official was referring to.
