(Chengdu, Sichuan—March 12, 2020) Officials visited the home of a pregnant Christian, prompting her to fear she would be taken away.

On March 10, authorities arrived at Christian Lan Wei’s family residence and inquired about the pregnancy of his wife. They offered to assist her, but she did not want their help.

Later, more unidentified government personnel showed up at their door. Lan’s wife looked down from her balcony and watched as the visitors, who claimed to be police officers, attempted to pry open her lock and break in. They said they had learned an exam she had undergone revealed high blood pressure, and they wanted to take her to the hospital.

However, the Lan family believes it should be their own choice whether or not to go to the hospital. They don’t know why the police interfered in their personal family matter.
