(Dalian, Liaoning province—March 9, 2022) Authorities in Dalian, Liaoning province arrested local Christian Zhou Jinxia after she returned from preaching the gospel to Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan in Beijing.

On February 20, Christian activist Zhou Jinxia held a placard to preach the gospel to Xi Jinping at Xinhua gate on Chang’an Street, Beijing, where the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party is located. She was arrested by the police on duty and brought back to the police in Dalian, the place of her household registration (Hukou), the next following day. They criminally detained Zhou on suspicion of “picking quarrels and provoking trouble,” holding her in Dalian City Detention Center.

On March 1, Zhou Jinxia’s family received a criminal detention notice issued by the Dalian Public Security Bureau of the Xigang Branch, and the police arrested her on the charge of “picking quarrels and provoking trouble.”

In recent years, Zhou Jinxia went to Xinhua Gate, Zhongnanhai, Beijing more than 50 times to try to preach the gospel to Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan, resulting in numerous detentions.

Zhou Jinxia was administratively detained for ten days in 2015 for preaching the gospel in front of Zhongnanhai Gate. On March 5, 2016, she once again held a placard in front of Zhongnanhai Gate, which read:

God loves the world and calls upon Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan. ‘Freedom, equality, justice, and integrity come from God, and ‘atheism’ produces evil and brings disaster to the country and its people. Righteousness uplifts the country, and sin is a humiliation for the people! The kingdom of heaven is near; you all should repent!

Later, police detained Zhou Jinxia, and her gospel placard was confiscated. She was administratively detained for ten days by the Dalian Municipal Public Security Bureau on March 7. In March two years later, Zhou Jinxia preached the gospel to Xi Jinping in front of Xinhua Gate, Zhongnanhai. The next day, she was detained by the Xigang Branch of Dalian Public Security Bureau on suspicion of “picking quarrels and provoking trouble.”

Two years ago, in October 2020, Zhou Jinxia began to settle in Xiaobailou village, Fengtai district, Beijing, during which she evangelized and attended Christian gatherings and other activities. On June 27, 2021, Zhou Jinxia was driven away by cadres and police in Xiaobai village, and they seized her belongings, such as items for daily use.

In 2014, Zhou Jinxia also led her Aiqi Church to sing and worship at a residence converted into a town plaza to sing praises and worship God, but authorities intervened.
