It is with great sadness that we come to pray following the death of Abune Antonios, the legitimate leader of the Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church.

SUDAN | Khartoum Bahri Court Orders Partial Church Demolition

A court in Khartoum Bahri ordered the demolition of part of a church building belonging to the Sudan Presbyterian Evangelical Church (SPEC) on Feb. 15.

CHINA | House Church Leader Sentenced to Prison

Independent house church leader Pastor Hao Zhiwei was sentenced to eight years in prison on fraud charges by the authorities in Ezhou in China’s central Hubei province.

SUDAN | Church Elder Killed, Religious Buildings Destroyed

A church elder was killed, and several religious buildings were destroyed, on Feb. 14 in a widespread attack on Aneet market on the border of the disputed oil-rich region of Abyei in Sudan and Twic County in South Sudan.

Abune Antonios, the head of the Eritrean Orthodox Church, died on February 9 at the age of 94 after spending the last sixteen years of his life under arrest for his faith.
